Asmoah Gyan quits Ghana Black Stars ahead of AFCON 2019.


Ghana Black stars Captain Asmoah Gyan has made on official statement about him quoting the Black Stars. In the statement he says he cannot pretend to happy and that would mean him hurting himself emotionally and psychologically. According to him he has represented Ghana in ten major tournaments including the Olympics, World Cup and in African Nation Cup under different coaches. He said his proudest moments have been in recent years as a captain under Coach Akwasi Appiah.

Asamoah Gyan said throughout his career he has never seen a time where a substantive were part of a team and had to surrender their captaincy to other players and serve in different capacities. His main point is that, if the coach wants to give his captaincy of the tournament to another player whiles he is named a team member for the tournament then he wishes to recuse himself from the tournament. He also wishr to retire from the team permanently even though he’ll continue to serve as a businessman in Ghana under different investments. See Press Statement posted on his Instagram page below.
