Barclays Bank, one of the oldest banks in Ghana has announced that the award-winning and internationally acclaimed rapper M.anifest is its brand ambassador as it rebrands itself as Absa.
Now Absa Bank Ghana Limited is a part of Absa Group Limited, an African financial services group that aims to be the pride of the continent. It is listed on the Johannesburg Stock Exchange in South Africa and is one of the largest diversified financial services groups with presence in 12 countries across the African continent and holds about 42,000 employees.
Barclays Bank as it was has operated since 1917. It inherited the Colonial Bank in 1917, and in 1970 with 25 branches Barclays Bank of Ghana was incorporated locally as a full owned subsidiary of Barclays Bank (DCO).
The announcement comes ahead of the official rebranding that will take place on Monday, 10 February 2020.
M.anifest, one of the internationally acclaimed artists in Ghana is really paying his dues. He uses multilingual approach in delivering his art in a way music lovers refer to as a thinker. His works showcases a combination of cultures as a Ghanaian and African blended with his earlier days on the diaspora. He has worked with several artistes both internationally and locally, his perfect artistic delivery and lyricism attracted the likes of Tony Allen, Damon Albarn, Flea, Erykah Badu, Femi Kuti, A.B. Crentsil and more. One thing people can’t take away from him, his trademark and love for afrocentrism.
