Iran has launched a series of missiles into the US base in Iraq. The DoD confirmed that Iran has fired its missiles into the US base in Iraq and many casualties have been reported.
Iran specifically targeted US position rather than places where Iraqi forces are housed in Ain Al-Asad. Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard(IRGC) has once again warned allies in the US against getting involved in their operation-dubbed ‘Martyr Soleimani’ – and have threatened possible retaliation as reported by Tasnim News Agency.
About 35 missiles were launched and struck US targets in Irbil, Iraq and the Ayn-al Asad Air Base which houses US military forces.
This comes as a result of US missile attack on Iran which killed General Souleimani. The situation has escalated into an exchange of threats and the panic of a WWIII being on the rise.
The Pentagon has reported that it is still assessing the damage of the air strikes and is confident that the missiles were launched from Iran and targeted at least two Iraqi military bases hosting US military and coalition personnel at Al-Assad and Irbil the Defense Department has said.
