Celtic crowned Scottish Premiership champions as SPFL ends season


On 13 March 2020, the Scottish football season was suspended with immediate effect due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The SPFL held a board meeting this morning where they decided to bring the season to an end, meaning a 51st league title for Celtic.

The season was curtailed as a result, with Celtic declared Scottish Premiership champions on 18 May, winning a ninth consecutive league title.

It also means Hearts are relegated to the Championship for the second time since 2014.
