Fast rising Gospel artiste, Peter Akwetey has shared his view about the brawls between the camp categories’ icons Joe Mettle and Patience Nyarko. He calls this incident shameful.
Few days ago, Patience Nyarko revealed that her colleague Joe Mettle doesn’t deserve the hype Ghanaians give to him, according to her she has not reached that level yet.
This came when there was a discussion about why Ghana music and the Gospel category to be precise doesn’t travel beyond the borders of the nation. It was concluded by one Ghanaian event organizer that normally artistes in Ghana use the local dialect in their arts so foreigners don’t appreciate it when event are held outside, but Nigerians with atleast their pidgin, they get international appeal.
He said, however, Joe Mettle does most of his songs too in English so among the Ghanaian gospel artists, he has international appeal. This didn’t go well with co-artist Patience Nyarko. According to her Joe Mettle doesn’t write his own songs as he sings Methodist and Pentecost hymns.
Her wild assertions have resulted in clashes of her fans and that of Mettle. They have been trading insults among themselves on social media. An incident Peter Akwetey doesn’t think it’s cool for the Gospel fraternity.
The “Adom” singer opined that the fans of Joe Mettle needed not to attack Patience Nyarko for what she said.
“Christians throwing shades and tantrum at their own fellow believer because of statement she made. Shame, fame and award crazy generation. Love covers all.”
According to him, they should “Encourage each other in the Lord, don’t beef each other. We can do this in love. It’s all about Christ and His great love for humanity.”
He therefore urge Joe Mettle and Patience Nyarko to call their members to order. That’s the matured way to settle the issue, he claimed.
