Chelsea scored first through Olivier Giroud before Liverpool equalized just after half time through Sadio Mane.
Liverpool’s Sadio Mane gave them the lead in the first half of extra time before Jorginho converted a spot-kick to make it 2-2.
The game was decided on penalties with Liverpool beating Chelsea 5-4 to win. Liverpool will visit Southampton on Saturday while Chelsea will hope to win their first game under Lampard at home to Leicester on Sunday afternoon.
