Rafael Nadal has claimed his nineteenth Major championship on Sunday night (Sept.8) after he bested 23-year-old Russian Daniil Medvedev.
According to reliable sources, the epic showdown to win the US Open lasted five hours. After which Nadal won his incredibly outrageous 19th Grand Slam title.
Medvedev made the better start to the match, breaking Nadal to lead 2-1 but the Spanish star, 33, fought back immediately to win his fourth US Open with a 7-5, 6-3, 5-7, 4-6, 6-4 win after four hours and 50 minutes.
The world’s number 4, Medvedev, did his best through out the entire game it seems his best wasn’t enough to take down the Spanish ‘beast’.
Nadal’s latest victory puts him just one behind his long-standing rival, Swiss legend, Roger Federer.
