The Ghana government led by President Akuffo Addo has made a tough decision as an attempt to curb the spread of corona virus in the country. A decision which Van Viker and other celebrities think it’s apt.
The rate of corona virus spread was surging and called for locking down the country. It became a tough decision because Ghana as a country with about half of the population living in poverty, the period won’t be very favourable to the ordinary citizens. It became a debatable topic whether there should be a lockdown, either partial or full or no lockdown at all.
On 27th March, 2020, President Akuffo Addo addressed the nation for the 4th time where he initiated the lockdown policy for selected geographical jurisdictions for 14 days starting from Monday, 30th March, 2020. It affected Greater Accra and Kumasi and its environs.
Van Viker applauded the president for making such a tough decision in a time like this. However, he also advised that there should be follow up to ensure the initiative is reviewed where necessary as we observe it.
“Well done Mr. President. A tough decision to make in these difficult times. The citizenry will be affected at all levels depending on where one finds oneself in the value chain, so I agree with you that there should be a critical observation and a constant review where necessary of the directive.”
Vicker also urged Ghanaians living in the lockdown areas to comply with the initiative as it can put a stop to the spread of the virus.
