The two African music goddesses, Yemi Alade and Angelina Kidjo are out with a new tune dubbed “Shekere” to bless music lovers on the month love.
Shekere is a West African percussion instrument consisting of dried gourd with beads or cowries woven into a net covering the gourd. The instrument is popular among West African and Latin American folkloric traditions. The song “Shekere” is named after this musical instrument.
Greatly pleased Yemi Alade shared on her page, “Super excited with this record, we have been working back and forth for 2 years on this song, #SHEKERE. The video is out now. @angliquekidjo thank you Mami.”
Angelique Kidjo, a Beninese singer is really a veteran who has made impact over three decades and still counting is really a blessing to have on a tune. At this year’s Grammy Awards, the 59 year old won the Best World Music Album honour. This means she is a four-times Grammy holder.
Yemi Alade, the Nigerian giant music maker known for hits such as “Johnny” is really making huge impact on the sands of Africa and beyond. Currently she has released her album “Woman of Steel”. The album has fifteen great songs of which “Shekere” is part, number nine on the album.
